Orienting Your Articles Toward the Reader
This tip is so simple, and yet many new article writers completely overlook it. That is, instead of orienting an article towards the reader, the author orients it towards himself.
This is pretty easy to do, and largely it happens because of human nature. You see, when you sit down to write an article, you're often thinking about what you hope to accomplish in the article. You think about how you want to get all the readers on your mailing list. Or as you write you're thinking about how if enough people buy from the links in your article, you'll be able to make this month's mortgage payment.
Sometimes it's just ego that gets in the way. We like to think about ourselves. And that spills over to writing about ourselves.
But here's the thing...
Your prospect is exactly the same way. That is, he likes to think about HIMSELF. So if he starts reading something that's about you, he's going to get bored. He'll click the back button. And you lose any chance of getting a new subscriber or making a sale.
You see, your prospect is reading your article with one question floating in the back of his mind: "What's in it for me?" Or, "What does this have to do with me?" Only the very patient prospect will stick around for any length of time while you get to the point. The rest will move on and find an author who does address the prospect and his problems.
